About
Welcome to the vibrant world of Lion Curry, a unique culinary gem nestled in the heart of Aso, Kumamoto, Japan. Located at 1415-2 Kurokawa, this establishment has become a beloved spot for locals and travelers alike, serving up a delightful fusion of Japanese and Indian curry that tantalizes the taste buds.
The standout feature of Lion Curry is its ability to blend traditional Japanese flavors with a twist reminiscent of Indian cuisine. Patrons rave about the rich taste and generous portions, indicating that this is not just any curry joint. As one satisfied customer, Michael Urip Pirngadie, noted, "Japanese curry with Indian twist and very delicious." This sentiment is echoed across numerous reviews, highlighting both the deliciousness and the local popularity of the restaurant.
Upon entering, you might notice a unique ordering system that involves purchasing tickets before placing your order. While it can be a bit daunting for first-timers, it adds an element of excitement and anticipation as you peruse the extensive menu. Some reviews suggest that the offerings can be overwhelming at first glance, but once you make your selection, the experience pays off handsomely as the dishes arrive laden with flavors and freshness.
One dish that frequently garners attention is the "Neo," known for its substantial serving size and intricate flavors packed in every bite. Customers like Reina Tsukida reminisce fondly about their previous experiences, enjoying the variety and abundance of toppings. For those desiring a different spin, the inclusion of fried eggs atop the curry is a popular recommendation. Each bite is a delightful combination of textures and tastes, emphasizing the restaurant's commitment to quality and flavor.
Interestingly, while Lion Curry stands out for its unique curry blend, it also has its quirks. A customer noted the vibrant atmosphere paired with a lively (and somewhat audibly distracting) environment as the owner juggles multiple tasks. Nonetheless, the warm interaction with the staff shines through, making guests feel welcomed despite the occasional sound clamor. As Hiro Ai noted, "the owner was friendly and provided a pleasant experience."
Overall, Lion Curry is more than just a restaurant; it is an evolving experience where the delicious meld of flavors meets a lively environment. If you find yourself in Kumamoto, this curry haven is undoubtedly worth a visit. With its rich taste, friendly service, and a menu that delights both the adventurous and the traditional, Lion Curry is poised to satisfy every palate. ”
“ Japanese curry with indian twist and very delicious. Very good local establishment (restaurant). The service is really good and looks very popular with local. Absolutely recommended. ”
“ Not a Japanese curry but it's delicious. Definitely will eat here again if in Kumamoto ”
“ Amazing Indian-Japanese curry. Worth a detour ”
“ Eating at Lion Curry is a great experience, and we go there at least once a week. Ideal for a quick and tasty lunch. ”
“ Weekday wait—arrival to food served—was 2 hours. Added a spicy egg and a sausage as toppings to chicken keema curry and enjoyed it. I have to say, though, that the food was not worth that long of a wait. Staff was nice and service was prompt. They were even very helpful dealing with the parking overflow. I do recommend trying it out. If you’re going to have a long wait, you might want to try again another time. Thanks for the curry! EDIT: I went for the second time around 3 pm—no other customers! An added bonus: the food was even better than I remembered. I’ve upped the * for this restaurant. Nice job! ”
